Leadership in today's AI-driven world is a wild ride. It is not just about knowing your way around algorithms; it is about having a vision, leading with ethics, and remembering that at the heart of all this tech are real, messy, creative humans. As a millennial woman who gets a little too excited about innovation (and going to bed before 10pm), I see AI as a game-changing opportunity to lead with purpose. My work with Business 4 Good continues to center on collaboration and community, as each of my previous brands have done and for that matter all the clients I get to work with! I genuinely believe technology is one of the coolest tools we have got to build something meaningful, if we use it right.
Redefining Relationships with Technology, Creativity, and Culture
Let us be real: tech has been having a bit of an image problem. For a long time, it has felt cold, complicated, and maybe just a little bit elitist. But here is the thing: organizations like The Future Society are flipping that script and making AI approachable, human, and (dare I say it?) kind of fun. Their work aligns perfectly with my obsession with #Tequity (tech + equity, because catchy phrases are my love language). It is all about using technology to bridge gaps and create systems that actually empower people, not just the people who already have access, but everyone.
AnitaB.org hit the nail on the head: AI is not here to replace us; it is here to amplify what we are already great at. The catch? Amplification works both ways. If we are careless, we risk magnifying biases and inequalities. Leadership in the age of AI means stepping up, asking tough questions, and making sure our tech serves the greater good. It is not always easy, but hey, nothing worth doing ever is.
Embracing the Promise of AI with a Human-Centered Approach
When I read about The Future Society's work on addressing risks in open foundation models, I could not help but cheer from my home office desk although I may have scared the sh*t out of my cat!! Their commitment to bringing diverse voices to the table, like with France's 2025 AI Action Summit, is exactly the kind of energy we need. This work reinforces my belief that human intelligence (HI) should be the compass guiding AI. At the end of the day, it is not the algorithms calling the shots; it is us, and that means we need to lead with accountability, empathy, and diversity.
#Tequity in Action
At Business 4 Good, we are on a mission to make #Tequity the norm. When you take technology and add equity you get TEQUITY! We are actively involving underrepresented voices in developing AI solutions because let us face it: the tech world has been a little too homogenous for a little too long.
Since working in this space for the past 5 years and in adjacent lanes the previous ten years, I have seen how speaking up for what we want tech to do can work. And let me just say, this has not been easy work. Whether it is creating platforms that democratize access to resources or holding space for diverse perspectives to drive innovation, I keep showing up. And since I have been doing this heavy lifting for years, I want to share some of the good (and hard) lessons learned along the way so the road might just be easier for you! And together, we are proving that tech can be personal, relevant, and, dare I say, cool.
A Call to Action for Fellow Leaders
The future of AI in leadership is wide open, and that is what makes it so exciting. We have the chance to shape it into something truly meaningful, but we have to engage with the tech. We cannot just put our heads in the sand and think this whole AI thing will just go away. This upgrade takes work. It means staying curious, listening more than we talk, and holding ourselves accountable to the communities we serve.
AI is a powerful tool, but it is just that: a tool. What makes it transformative is how we choose to wield it.
Remember, a hammer was once considered tech and the same can be said for those nail files in the bottom of your purse!
I launched Business 4 Good to challenge the status quo, build with integrity, and create a future where technology and humanity do not just coexist but thrive together, where equity is innovation. So here is to doing the work, asking the tough questions, and having a little fun along the way.
Let us build better. Let us build Business 4 Good.
When you take technology and add equity you get TEQUITY. And that changes everything.
Love,
Rose
